Overview FUNetix is a patented, science-based, and simplified way of teaching reading to children. The FUNetix Reading App is available in the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App store. FUNetix aims to help children learn to read by mapping the 44 sounds of English to letters and letter combinations. The American Youth Literacy Foundation, dba FUNetix, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2008. Our mission is to enable all children in every classroom in America to learn how to read by the end of 3rd grade and to deploy the FUNetix Reading App nationwide. We are developing the FUNetix ESL app (21ESL) and are seeking Hispanic ESL teachers to participate in paid research and development using an alpha prototype. Teachers will use the 21ESL app, based largely on the FUNetix Reading App, to teach Spanish-speaking students how to read, write, speak, and understand English. Teachers will work with the User Experience (UX) ESL Team and our Project Manager. They may incorporate additional concepts and materials as appropriate during the teaching experience, and will use Google Meet to record teaching sessions. A special compensation will be paid to both the teacher and the student’s family. As part of this research program, teachers and families will be compensated for up to 12 hours of their time, regardless of how many modules of the 21ESL prototype app are completed. For more information about our story and team, visit Mr. R. Kali Woodward Founding, Executive Director Role and Responsibilities The Hispanic ESL teachers will use the prototype app as a teaching template and may enhance the curriculum with additional concepts and materials as needed.
