Job Summary

The Patient Transport Start-Up Director is responsible for leading the successful launch of patient transport services at new healthcare client sites across the U.S. This role includes planning, budgeting, implementation, and ongoing operational support to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction. This position requires 100% travel to various client locations nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead for all new site implementations ("Start-up Captain")
  • Create detailed start-up plans and coordinate necessary resources
  • Manage start-up budgets and track associated costs
  • Implement standardized patient transport programs
  • Use internal transport software to support new and existing sites
  • Train and support local site teams on systems and procedures
  • Collect, review, and analyze hospital data such as occupancy rates
  • Develop staffing models using benchmarking and industry standards
  • Conduct interviews and observations to estimate labor needs
  • Recommend equipment based on staffing and operational needs
  • Prepare detailed cost projections for labor and non-labor components
  • Conduct time studies to project transport and turnaround times
  • Identify service issues and create corrective action plans
  • Recommend efficiency improvements such as bed tracking and call center models
  • Conduct operational audits and performance reviews
  • Troubleshoot issues related to software and workflow
  • Train on-site managers and provide continuous development support
  • Maintain "Foundations"-level training standards for all new sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5–8 years of director-level experience in patient transport or related healthcare operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Comfortable working in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with contract administration and operational workflows
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time to various sites across the U.S.
